Alpha

This week I worked on getting my game ready to be tested and played. My game is far from perfect at the moment but I am happy with the progress I have made with it at the moment.

Some of my scripting I am having issues with I had to delete my main menu from the start as it kept glitching my game for some reason my laptop just didn't agree with it for some reason. My gem is kind of working at the moment unity has been crashing a bit lately on me again but some elements of it still works. The gem is how I want it to look at it rotates and everything its just my character won't take it, I have to keep going back to my script and see why but the problem is hard to figure out.

I am happy with how my character jumps onto the vinyls, I spaced them out evenly so that when the character jumps it is less likely to fall off or miss it. My vinyls are more dome shaped then I would've liked but I think they give the game more depth instead of having them really flat, I just think at this stage if my vinyls where how I originally wanted them the game would appear really dull and boring not as good as it appears now.

I am very happy with how my game looks on screen and when being played, Its how I kind of imagined it obviously its not my exact vision from the start but thats ok because I was way too ambitious, I got a little bit carried away with all the features I wanted to add in.

At the moment I am liking how my game is and hopefully others will too, It matches my vision that I had from the start when I came up with this idea. I would like to keep working on it and constantly progress my work and the mechanics because mechanics are where I struggle.

  1. Hi Emma! Thanks for your recent comment~! I'm glad you like the way my game looks, still a lot to be done though.
I'm sorry to hear about the scripting problems... I think we are all struggling with it, because scripts are different for different games, and if you miss a tiny bit or a capital letter, it all just crashes... and Unity isn't exactly the best at saying where the error is and how to possibly fix it.
Your game looks interesting - the colors are extremely vibrant and strong, which looks nice, but the longer I look at it, the more I think that it might be just a tiny bit too bright? It might be hard to look at for a longer duration of time...
Good luck with the rest of the game!

  2. Hey Emma! The game looks great super vibrant!
i literally couldnt be on a closer page to you when it comes to laptops randomly deciding "No i dont wanna work for you buddy!" almost like they've a mind of their own that only comes out when u need something done.

i've its so good to see that everything is just as you imagined it would be i cant say there is any better feeling when it comes to game designing.

I am actually having the exact same problem with the character not picking up objects such as gem or axe or in my instance a bow.
at first i felt it was something i did but it turned out to be my computer just randomly deciding to delete files on me.
Anyways, great to see the game is coming on. cant wait to play when its finished!
    Cya dude!!

  4. Hi Emma, I'm glad to see you're happy with your game. If you're struggling with the script, you can go to one of Jimmy Vegas' videos, there is a link in the description that brings you to his site, there you can get scripts and assets from his videos, if you copy and paste his script it should work just fine. Other than that your game looks really nice and I'm happy to see it's going as planned. Keep up the good work.
